Greeks Bring Prefab Houses From Bulgaria

SINORA_525_355Trucks loaded with households and even with entire prefabricated houses pass every day from the Promachonas border post with Bulgaria heading for Greece as more Greeks prefer them to renovate or set up country houses.
The selling prices, which are even 50% lower in comparison to Greece and which remain stable despite the economic crisis, are luring many Greek customers.
At the same time, skilled Greek carpenters, plumbers, construction workers and other technicians are finding work in Bulgaria building the houses and with household goods companies.
“Our co-operation with the Greeks is very good,” a Bulgarian official told the Greek news agency AMNA. The Bulgarian workers serving Greeks speak Greek fluently.
During Greece’s crushing economic crisis, more Greek workers and professionals have looked for work in other countries or transferred their businesses elsewhere, particularly to Bulgaria.
Window and door frame manufacturers which were based in Thessaloniki, are now located in Petritsi and in Sandanski, Bulgaria, with a peaking amount of orders from Greece.
“The Greek is no longer interested if the window or door frames have the German stamp, but he is interested in getting good quality in an excellent price,” said one Greek businessman who has transferred his business to Bulgaria and says he was “saved”.
As for the price, they are unbeatable compared to those in Greece, consumers told AMNA, and the prefab houses are a big draw and officials stressed they are built in accordance with European laws.
