Lufthansa's New Aircraft in Athens

El_Venizelos_Β747-8On June 19 at the Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos, the new aircraft of Lufthansa airlines made its first touch-down in a special ceremony, in the presence of the Minister of Development and Infrastructure Kostis Hatzidakis and of the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni. The ceremony was also attended by the General Manager of the Athens International Airport and associates of the company.
Greece is the ideal choice for the presentation of the aircraft, as it is famous for its unique and genuine hospitality,” Lufthansa officials said.
Lufthansa, with a presence in Greece for more than half a century, chose Athens and the city’s international airport as it “considers Greece as a major European market, declaring its intention to further strengthen the Greek-German ties.” The German ambassador to Greece noted that confidence has returned to Greece after a year of efforts.
It is the world’s largest aircraft now in production. The B747-8 is an upgraded and longer version of the classic, legendary 747. Its spacious cabin has a capacity of 358 passengers -in comparison to Boeing΄s standard capacity of 467 passengers- with eight seats in First-Class, 92 in Business Class and 258 in Economy Class.
The German aircraft carrier is the first – and the only so far- airline company in the world which routes the new B747-8 on transatlantic flights, with the first aircraft connecting Frankfurt with Washington, New Delhi, Bangalore, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Miami.
