kouvelisΤhe political developments in Greece are piquing the international media’s interest, following the decision of the political party Dimokratiki Aristera to differentiate itself from the government policy after the party leader Fotis Kouvelis’ stance at the political leaders’ meeting on June 20.
Reuters news agency said the collapse of Thursday’s talks “is throwing the country into a new turmoil,” while there is a special mention to the meeting Dimokratiki Aristera is holding on June 21  to determine its stance towards the government.
Reuters said that members of Dimokratiki Aristera express divergent views. Concerning the policy developments and the next day of the government, Reuters pointed out that if Dimokratiki Aristera withdraws completely from the government, the government will be able to continue its route, although this development is expected to be a strong blow to the government’s work.
Deutsche Welle said the Greek government is on the brink of collapsing, speaking of a dramatic and difficult situation, while highlighting the statements of the President of the Eurogroup, who spoke of the need to preserve political stability.
The German television network NTV noted that the government crisis in Greece ‘is causing concern among European partners,” while the British network BBC claimed that the disagreements in the coalition government have raised fears about the potential collapse of the government.
