New 24-hour Strike in Municipalities

048CD502EA8C284AFC1A401D117B78F5POE OTA members, the Panhellenic Federation of Workers of all specializations in the municipalities and local communities of Greece, decided a 24-hour strike on July 9 and a gathering at 11 in the morning at Karaiskaki Square.
The welfare services of the municipalities are again exempted from the strike. On the evening of July 9, the Federation’s executive committee will meet to discuss the new facts that will occur during the day. The meeting of the municipal police union is in progress, while according to information, it is likely that municipal policemen will decide to go on an indefinite strike.
In the meanwhile, the meetings of the Minister of Interior, Yannis Michelakis, and Minister of Administrative Reform and e-Governance, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with the unions’ leaderships are of crucial importance. These meetings will be held on the occasion of the recent governmental decision to integrate civil servants and employees in local administration organizations to the mobility program.
The ministers’ meeting with the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece was finished shortly before 16:00 on July 8. Both sides renewed their appointment for July 9 at 09:30 in the morning. After their meeting with the mayors, the two ministers held a meeting with the representatives of POE OTA.
According to latest information, the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece is asking  for a proper evaluation of all public sector bodies.
The gathering and protest march are organized by ADEDY and POE OTA.
