Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, is to proceed in changes in the Pan-Hellenic Federation of Nursing Staff Unions (PASONOP) and the public health system in general. As he stressed, within the next two weeks all plans on hospital mergers, staff mobility and health sector workers’ suspension are to be completed.
However, on many levels these plans include changes mainly imposed by the Troika. Already, the Health Ministry officials have been preparing a blueprint for Georgiadis on the clinics that should be cut back across the country (many have already shut down), on hospitals that need to change or even shut down, as well as on the staff that must be transferred.
Simultaneously the criteria for the list of 1,250 workers who must immediately be suspended are also being prepared.
Not later than mid-August, everything must be ready for implementation as the Minister of Health noted, who in the meanwhile is having contacts and talks with various Health sectors.
Georgiadis has also been informed about the hospitals that are malfunctioning and should change immediately.
