Knock-Offs Sold To Unsuspecting Customers

487468ACAA59F55B06FF0C03D0D52E80The selling of counterfeit goods is a problem in Greece that continues to evade authorities but they said they seized 16 knock-off mobiles, 13 watches, 28 bottles of perfume, 74 pairs of sunglasses and five sweatshirts at a dealer’s house in Corfu.
Police apprehended four suspects said to have a stock of perfumes, clothes and imitations of cell phones, and who were taken into custody by the island’s DIAS police officers.
One was a 30-year-old who had been selling brand name imitation cell phones at a low price to believe who believed they were genuine despite paying far less than the value.
 
The four alleged perpetrators were taken before the public prosecutor in Corfu who indicted them among other charges for fraud and forgery.
The same thing happened with three stores in Rethymno, Crete, where the unsuspected customers were buying knock-off products as well.
An investigation carried out by police in cooperation with an authorized representative of legitimate companies, revealed products for sale which in fact were imitations of various branded companies.
In that case, a 46-year-old store owner along with two others were arrested and police confiscated 317 wristwatches, 24 perfumes, tw0 bags and two women’s wallets.
