Karamanlis, according to Proto Thema, traveled with his family around Southern Italy during the Easter vacations to Apulia, Calabria and Sicily.
This was followed by a trip to Tinos in May where the entire family stayed at a friend’s house near the beach of Agios Ioannis. The Karamanlis family went for a weekend to Andros, where they avoided to appear in public.
Papandreou, who returned from Las Vegas where he was a speaker at an investment conference, spent his Easter holidays in Spetses, while ten days later he traveled for two days to Lausanne, where he lunched with IOC president Jacques Rogge and participated in the conference as a speaker.
In May the former prime minister was at a conference in Paris and two days later he traveled to Toronto where he participated in a debate on taxation of the rich, along with Nobel laureate, Paul Krugman.
