The Municipality of Hersonissos, aware of the impact of the Internet on tourists’ decisions for their holiday making, has begun to cooperate with some tourist portals to provide the best possible information about the municipality and the experiences that a visitor could taste.
Russian-speaking markets have been the fastest growing within the last three years on the island of Crete, so the municipal officials have begun a co-operation with the tourist portal grekomania.ru, a portal about Greece popular with Russian tourists.
The portal’s traffic currently amounts to 8,000 visitors daily, with a tendency to increase 90-110% during the summer time and 100-150% annually. It provides users with daily news, events and rich photographic material exclusively relating to Greece. The aim s to create a positive image of the country and of all activities carried out within it.
