Incidents reportedly occurred in Chalkidiki concerning the functioning of gold mines, as mine employees denounced.
The incidents were said to have occurred by Ierissos residents after a demonstration, when they reportedly tried to enter the town hall, where the mayor was present.
After that, the protestors reportedly attacked some cafeteria frequenters which resulted in the injury of a young woman and two policemen. Riot police headed to the scene to put an end to the incidents.
The protestors said that all these accusations are ridiculous and nonsense. According to their representatives, after the demonstration they went outside the town hall to protest, but did not try to enter it, nor attack the mayor.
When leaving, miners who had gathered in a cafeteria attacked them verbally. There was a small clash during which, according to the protestors, one person from each side was slightly injured. The incident ended with the police’s intervention.
