Letter Bomb Sent to Evelpidon Courts

evelpidonA trapped envelope arrived at 2:15 p.m. at building 6 of the former Hellenic Military Academy.
The sender seems to be the Athens Bar Association and the receiver was the administration of the Court of First Instance. Due to the fact that the envelope’s sender was the Bar Association, which is considered to be internal correspondence, the envelope was not checked in detail.
According to the most updated  information, an employee tried to open the envelope and found there were cables. The police were immediately informed and men of the Department of Explosive Devices Disposal (TEEM) arrived at the spot and neutralized the bomb with a controlled explosion.
According to early reports, the explosive device was put in the envelope in a thick carton with a clothes pin that would function as a firing device when the envelope opened.
Officials of the Counter-Terrorism Unit consider that the manufacturer is different from the one who sent the envelope to the former commander of the Counter-Terrorism Unit, which flamed up at the Sorting Office of the Hellenic Post (ELTA) in Kryoneri, East Attica, Greece on July 3.
