Patras' Governor Meets Austria’s Ambassador

pqebdlaryg51f0df26ae2f6The governor of the Region of Patras Apostolos Katsifaras held a meeting with the Ambassador of Austria in Greece Melita Schubert to discuss  co-operation between Western Greece and Austria. The Honorary consul of Austria in Patras Fanis Georgopoulos was also present at the meeting that took place at the Region’s headquarters.
Katsifaras presented Schubert the comparative advantages of Western Greece and they agreed that co-operation is possible regarding agricultural production and aquaculture.
In addition, they discussed issues concerning research and technology as well as tourism. Schubert expressed her interest about Ancient Olympia, which she has already visited, adding that Western Greece, with Katakolo Port and Patras Port, constitutes a hub for any cruise around the Mediterranean Sea. They said they were especially interested in getting senior citizen tourists.
Katsifaras in his statements after the meeting, stressed that, “We want Europe on our side and Europeans to be real friends of ours and to support us in its difficult period.” Schubert also held meeting with the mayor of Patras Yiannis Dimaras. During their meeting they discussed issues concerning the city of Patras, and, in terms of infrastructure, the existing and future prospects.
