Music Festival Marks Mt. Olympus' 100th

olympus_h_596_355A special festival of arts, music, ideas and gastronomy, entitled Olympolis Art Music Project, is taking place during these days at the foot of Mt. Olympus and the International Foundation of the Monument of Alexander the Great, Alexandreio.
A hundred years after the first time that the top of Olympus was reached, a group of active citizens and artists of Pieria aim at promoting the mountain of the gods as an international tourist destination, through the artistic creation, the meeting of people, as well as the exchange of views and ideas.
The top event took place on Aug. 4, the music theme OLYMPUS RAPSODY, composed and orchestrated by Eddy Koopman, percussionist in the Metropole Orkest, based in the Netherlands.
Dutch soloists, in collaboration with 90 local musicians and choristers presented the work in the shadow of the mountain in an event transmitted via live streaming on the Internet, a celebration garnering attention of the international media.
