Arrivals Up At Zakynthos Airport

zakynthosGreece’s record tourist season is showing a bump in arrivals across the country and its islands, including a jump of 12.8 percent in charter flight traffic for July at the international airport of Zakynthos, which is located at the Ionian Sea, according to the official data by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority.
Some 13,420 more tourists arrived this July than in the disappointing year of 2012 when many would-be visitors stayed away from Greece in the aftermath of images of protests, strikes and riots against austerity measures. In particular, 690 aircraft transported 118, 397 passengers landed at the airport, compared to 620 and 104,977 passengers last July.
The island is particularly popular with young visitors who like to drink and have given it a reputation for rowdyism, but they spend a lot of money.
