Bulgarian Sculptors Prefer Greek Marble

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe renowned Bulgarian sculptor Kamen Tanev and his wife Albena Mihaylova, who is also sculptor and painter, have been guests at the Myrό Antiques House at the rural village Souroti in Thessaloniki.
The two sculptors are working in the framework of the initiative to promote the Greek marble sculpting that Stavros Myronidis, collector and antique dealer, has undertaken, aiming at producing works of modern sculpture and creating an international market for it through private investment.
Tanev was born, lives and works in Bulgaria. He has studied in the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, from where he has graduated in 1998 with an advanced degree in sculpture.
He was a lecturer in sculpture at the National Academy of Fine Arts, Sofia during 2005-2007. He has participated in many exhibitions around the world, as in Bulgaria, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Thailand and Guatemala.
He has been awarded many international prizes, as the 1st International Public Art Festival of Mudanjiang Jingpo Lake 2011 in China. More than 30 monumental sculptures of his are exhibited in Bulgaria, Greece, Russia, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Egypt and Turkey among other countries.
Albena Mihaylova was born in Targovishte, Bulgaria. She has graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia. She has exhibited her works in 14 individual exhibitions from 1995 to 2010 in Bulgaria, Germany and United Kingdom. She has participated in many group exhibitions around the world.
