ADEDY Declares Strike on August 28

apergia-adedy1One of the largest labor unions in Greece, ADEDY, will go on strike on August 28 and organize a rally in the center of Athens, protesting against the layoffs in the public sector, while it will next decide on expanding its strikes.
According to an announcement,“ADEDY denounces the ongoing pogrom of layoffs of tens of thousands of public workers that the government is implementing, confirming the promotion and the completion of the cut-throat plan that was finalized during the meeting of the competent Ministers yesterday, in the presence of the Prime Minister.”
“The Government imposes the complete dissolution of Public Services, by ‘directly executing’ –especially at this time- Education, Health and Local Administration, rushing to implement any requirements of the Troika, the money-lenders, who are asking for “blood” in order to give us the next installments in doses,” the announcement continued.
“It accelerates layoffs, either directly, or under the cloak of mobility-suspension, so that it will have “work” to present to its auditors, who will come to “inspect” a state-colony in September,” the announcement said.
“ADEDY warns that it will not sit with its arms folded in view of the public services’ death and the layoffs’ hecatombs, but it is scheduling in consultation with the Federations-branches of the Public, escalating and generalized strikes,” the announcement concluded.
