Thessaloniki Municipality Offers Free Meals to Needy Pupils

CFB78D7CC65B71ECD3A4F2747BEB112FDuring its 15th regular meeting, the Municipal Council of Thessaloniki unanimously approved to continue the program of providing a free meal per school day to needy students of primary and secondary education.
The decision concerns all the schools in the Municipality of Thessaloniki for the school year 2013-2014. The program’s expenditure will be at 44,944.20 euros.
“The Municipality of Thessaloniki, responding to the needs of the times and the ever deteriorating socioeconomic conditions, continues for one more year, like in the couple of years that passed, to support students of primary and secondary education of the schools of the municipality whose families are unable to meet their basic needs,”  the vice mayor for Social Solidarity Calypso Goula said, adding that, in this framework a draft competition will take place in accordance with the applicable regulations.
