Police Officer Arrested for Robberies

police_390_3103A police officer from the Greek Police Attica headquarters was arrested as he has allegedly been participating in a gang which has conducted armed robberies and break-ins.
According to a police announcement, along with the police officer six other peopleĀ aged from 26 to 36 were arrested for their involvement in the organization, while the police are still looking for two more people, a 32-year old from Kazakhstan and a 41-year-old.
According to media reports, a felony case was filed against the suspect with charges involving participation in a criminal organization, complicity in robbery, participation in a gang suspected of having conducted a series of armed robberies against trucks delivering merchandise as well as charges involving breaking into a number of jewelry stores over the past year.
The policeman has been accused of abuse of power and misconduct and has been suspended. The sergeant had key involvement in the activities of the organization, informing the 36-year-old leader on the layout and action of the police forces in areas they acted and on the subsequent development of the police investigation.
