There are many interesting things in the city of Thessaloniki to attract tourists from India, as Indians are particularly attracted by the personality of Alexander the Great and the wider Greek history, but until recently they did not include Northern Greece on their destination list, mainly because of the absence of an air link between Thessaloniki and Indian cities such as New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Members of the Thessaloniki’s Hoteliers Association presented the city’s benefits to experienced Indian tour operators in an effort to attract visitors from the vast Asian market.
The tourist agency ASIT and Turkish Airlines organized a familiarization trip for 11 tour operators from India, in order to become acquainted with all the possibilities the city offers for entertainment, shopping, culture and entertainment, to learn about the excellent conditions of residence and to discover the secrets of the long history of Thessaloniki.
About 20 hoteliers and hotel managers – members of Thessaloniki’s Hoteliers Association participated in the workshop, presenting the possibilities of hospitality, accommodation and food. Indians pay particular attention to their eating habits and are very demanding in cooking their daily menus which are prepared in a special way.
