cooking-festival-logoThe 7th Cycladic Gastronomy Festival Nikolaos Tselementes was hosted from Sept. 5-7 in the town of Artemonas on the island of Sifnos with the participation of 20 Cycladic islands.
The Festival went under the name Sifnos Sets the Table and was organized by the Cultural Association of Sifnos with the participation of the town officials and the Region of the Agean Sea in commemoration of Nikolaos Tselementes, who was born in Exampela, a village on Sifnos.
The Festival was a hymn to the talent and products of the islands of Cyclades.
The pavilions of the islands, with the local specialties based on farm and agricultural products, offered snacks and tourist material to the visitors. Cooking  and pastry demonstrations filled the program of the three-day festival for the delight and knowledge of the diners of the big Cycladic fest.
“The associations of the festival apart from the traditional dishes, bring with them the air of the primary production of the Cycladic islands, that is the new trend of the Greek economy. The festival promotes the local products, to which turn more and more young people in Greece of the crisis” the President of the Cultural Assiciation of Sifnos, Maria Nadali, told the Athens News Agency.
“The Festival of Cycladic Cuisine is done to honor the memory of Nikolaos Tslementes who originates from Sifnos and is an idol to the Greek way of cooking as it brought deep changes to the Greek gastronomy with his experience and history in the French school of cooking,” she underlined.
