Teachers Start Striking on September 16

1F49DFC01F448069C4840B16CF7F931FThe Greek Federation of State School Teachers of Secondary Education, (OLME) has already announced five-day rolling strikes starting from Monday, September 16 and the Greek Primary Teacher Federation, DOE, decided to proceed to a three-hour work stoppage and participate in the 48-hour strike organized by ADEDY on September 18 and 19.
The president of DOE announced that after the 48-hour strike, there will be general local teachers’ unions assemblies to take decisions on their next actions. However, teachers will reevaluate their position and will consider whether to escalate their protests on September 19 in a new meeting.
Private school teachers will go on a 48-hour strike on September 16 and 17.
At the same time, the turmoil continues in higher education. The period of exams as well as the registrations of the students in AEI and TEI are being delayed because of the strike of the administrators who are reacting to the suspension of 1,500 workers of higher education institutions.
