According to ANAmpa, only two candidates appeared today to submit binding offers for the historical hotel, despite the fact that the names of nine companies and groups of domestic and foreign interests have for some time known to be interested.
For the moment the owner of the estate IKA-ETAM has not yet issued an official announcement. However, as well-informed circles told ANAmpa, it was the company White & Black, the major shareholder of PAOK FC, Ivan Savvidis, which is the current leaser of the hotel, and the Steggos group who own the hotel complex Hotel Carras in Halkidiki.
The main criterion of the competition is the higher offered monthly rent for Makedonia Palace, as stated in the notice of the open public international bidding contest. However, the obligations of the lessee are not limited to the monthly rent, as they will also have to undertake investments for upgrading the five-star hotel on the coastal road.
