Knossos Closed Due to Strike

Knossos archaeological siteThe archaeological site of Knossos remained closed on September 18, due to the museum guards’ strike, who are protesting against the dismissals of 250 employees from the Ministry of Culture.

At this time of the year, the Palace and the archaeological site of Knossos are at the “peak” of visitor traffic, with daily visits of about 6,000 tourists.

The museum guards decided to go on strike for only one of the two days of protests, so as not to deprive tourists of visiting  the site.
