Representatives of the Troika told Financial Times that there will be new austerity measures under the new bailout despite Samaras’ statements in Brussels.
Meanwhile, on his return from Brussels, Samaras stressed that,”We cannot take any other measures.”
The Troika representatives underlined that the new aid package will also be accompanied by new austerity measures and even made a personal attack on Samaras by saying that ”he gave a promise he will not be able to keep.”
On the other hand, Samaras stated, “If Greece actually achieves its goals regarding the primary surplus and structural reforms, then all temporary funding problems will be solved.”
However, this “difference of opinion” sparks the argument whether the Eurozone creditors should suffer damage from the existing support packages so as to meet November’s agreement.
