Greek Basketball Legend Yiorgos Americanos Dies

050017One of the last legends of Greek basketball, Yiorgos Americanos, passed away this morning at the age of 71, after three years of serious health problems.

As an AEK player he was awarded six times as the first Greek Champion (1963 , 1964 , 1965 , 1966 , 1968 , 1970) and was the top scorer of the Greek Championship twice(1965 , 1968).
The veteran player faced serious health problems over the past three years, after a stroke and had been rushed to the hospital earlier in September, following another stroke.
