On October 8 the evening officers of the Internal Affairs Division of the Greek Police raided the police station of Omonoia, as part of their investigation for policemen connected with Golden Dawn.
According  to Greek media reports, the IAD found quantities of drugs that had been illegally withheld by police during the searches, arrests and confiscations they carried out. At the same time, several cases which had been covered regarding attacks against immigrants are now being investigated.
The investigation in the police station of Omonoia, along with the one in the Agios Panteleimonas region of Athens, is considered the most critical for purging the Greek police. And that’s because that particular police station is estimated to be one of the most problematic of ELAS (Greek Police) during the last 15 years and it has been proved to have “hosted” many cases of corruption.
In June 2007 there was recorded a case of abuse of immigrants by the police officers.
