Most Greeks Support the Crackdown on Golden Dawn

PollAccording to a new poll made by Rass for the Typos Tis Kyriakis newspaper, the vast majority of respondents, corresponding to 81.9%,  believe that the prosecution against the leader and the top officials of the Neo-Nazi Golden Dawn, after the murder of Pavlos Fyssas, is justified. In parallel, according to the poll’s findings, ND is ahead of SYRIZA, by 1.3 percentage points.
More specifically, ND gathers a 24.1% in voting intention against 22.8% of SYRIZA. There’s no other party gathering a double digit percentage of electoral influence. Golden Dawn comes third with 6.3%, then follows KKE with 5.2%, PASOK with 5%, the Independent Greeks with 4.8%, while the Democratic Left is on the threshold for entry into parliament with 3%.
As it seems, the Ecologist Greens and New Greece parties are not entering into the Parliament, with 1.4% and 1% respectively.
In parallel, to the question concerning suitability for the office of Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras has a strong lead with 45.5%, against the opposition’s leader Alexis Tsipras, with 26.5%.
In regards to the Golden Dawn issue, besides the fact that the respondents characterize the  crackdown of the Neo-Nazi party as justified, more than 7 out of 10 consider that its action is criminal (76.7%) and more than 8 out of 10 believe that Nazi propaganda must be prosecuted (85.4%).
Finally, according to the poll, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has moved ahead after the developments on the Golden Dawn case (58.9%), while 51 out of 100 respondents were satisfied with the governments handling of the case.
