The staff of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens History Museum, released a letter to the media informing the public, that the museum will remain closed because of the employees strike against lay-offs. They also made it clear that if the imminent measure of availability will be applied by the Greek government, there is the risk that half of the staff will not continue working at the Museum; a possibility that in fact makes work more difficult and leads to the postponement of many of its functions.

In their letter, the employees also mention that the Museum “will remain closed except for week-days, and the first and last Sunday of every month. Consequently, the free tours on every first Sunday of the month and the educational family program every last Sunday of the month will be cancelled. Moreover, the educational programs and tours for schools as well as other tours for adult groups are not realized on week-days.
The employees made a formal apology stating, “We are all very sorry for the inconvenience that might have been caused due to cancellation and postponement of the programmed events during this time.”  The programmed events include seminars, lectures, concerts, presentations and conferences.
