Staff of NTUA and UoA Go on New Five-day Strike



universitiesThe union for staff of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens decided to go on a new five-day strike, and now the danger of thousands of students losing the semester is becoming more likely.

The administrative employees unions are expected to meet next week in order to decide their next steps, while on Monday 4th of November, the Council of State (the Supreme Administrative Court of Greece) will try the application for the suspense of the joint ministerial decision concerning the dismissal of the biggest part of the administrative employees of the above mentioned universities.

It should be mentioned that according to the law, each academic semester must include a minimum of thirteen full weeks of teaching. The exam of a course that was taught for less than 13 weeks is considered invalid, and the grade is not counted in the award of a diploma. The number of weeks for conducting the exams is specified by the institution.
