The head of the Football Association, Dimitris Melisanidis, presented the projected new stadium of AEK today, which is also known as “Hagia Sofia” by the fans.
The model of the stadium was impressive, and as pointed out by Mr. Melissanidis, projects will start around January 2014 and will be completed in December 2015.
This project’s architect is Thanasis Kyratsous, who will design the new stadium of the Union which is going to have about 32,000 seats and will cost about 20 million euros.
The Ecumenical Patriarchate would like to contribute 50,000 euros to this effort.
Dimitris Melissanidis stated: “The stadium will have no owner. It belongs to AEK. We will keep only gates 21 and all that it stands for AEK fans,” said the strong man of the Union and ended his speech by saying: Do not forget our big slogan: “We’re coming.”
