Foreign Media Reports on ERT Intervention

ERT
Early this morning, international news agencies began to broadcast the police operation in ERT. The police operation took place just after 4 o’clock in the morning local time, when few of the former employees were in the building. Here are various reports from foreign media:
The conservative government suddenly shut down ERT on June 11, firing 2700 employees, citing the need to cut costs because of the severe economic crisis in the country, says GUARDIAN.
Reuters reports that special police forces conducted a foray at Radiomegaro and forced the workers that were inside to leave.
The British agency reported that there was limited use of tear gas outside the building and four people were arrested (who were later released).
The Associated Press reports in its telegram that all employees that were in Radiomegaro at that time were removed, saying that the time of the police operation only a few were inside and no violence was reported.
The Agence France Press broadcast the news of the evacuation of the buildings by the police in the morning, and said that investigations have been made in every room, while protesters who had gathered outside the building were moved away by riot police .
This morning, the correspondent of the British network, BBC, had already presented the news on the channel, saying that the operation was actually expected. Although ERT was not high in the preferences of Greek television audience, he said it remained an institution, the closure of which had aroused strong indignation.
