"Golden Cage" Triumphs at 54th Thessaloniki Int'l Film Festival

keli-xrusafi-festibal-kinimatografou-thessalonikisThe “Golden Cage” (La Jaula De Oro), a modern road movie triumphed in the 54th International Film Festival of Thessaloniki, by winning 4 awards. The “Golden Cage” won the top prize in FISHER audience award and the Best Feature Film – Golden Alexander Theo Angelopoulos award.  Diego Quemada-Diez, director of the movie, was named Best Director, and The Hellenic Parliament TV Channel bestowed its award to “Golden Cage” too. The film describes 4 adults from Guatemala who are trying to escape from their homeland through Mexico. Their destination is Los Angeles.

The film’s projection was followed by enthusiastic comments and critics among the audience, wherever it was projected. “Golden Cage” had already won prizes in other festivals (Cannes festival etc.).
Other awards given were:
The Special Jury Award – Silver Alexander was presented to the film SUZANNE by Katell Quillevere, France 2013
Special Jury Award for Originality and Innovation – Bronze Alexander was presented to the film Pelo Malo (Bad Hair) By Mariana Rondon, Venezuela 2013
Best Screenplay Award was presented to Tae-Gon Kim for the film Sunshine Boys, South-Korea 2012
The Best Actress Award was presented to Sara Forestier, for SUZANNE France, 2013
The Best Actor Ex aequo Award was presented to Christos Stergioglou for THE ETERNAL RETURN OF ANTONIS PARASKEVAS Greece/Czech Republic, 2013, and to Jaime Vadell for LA CHUPILCA DEL DIABLO (THE DEVIL’S LIQUOR), Chile, 2012.
