More Bad Weather in Attica, Thessaloniki and the Ionian Sea

rainsAfter yesterday’s downpour, the National Hellenic Meteorological Service (EMY) announced that the stormy weather would continue and the areas that will be most affected are Attica, Thessaloniki, and the Ionian islands.
The sudden rainstorms that occurred on Monday caused many problems in Athens. Over 250 calls were made to the fire department asking for help in flooded buildings, while the traffic jam was several kilometers long in many of the main roads like Syngrou, Poseidonos, Pireaos and Kifissou. In Kamatero, a section of Fylis Avenue collapsed.
Near Kalamata, three cars were swept away by the force of the rain, while in the mountains in Arcadia, lightning caused a one-meter fissure when it struck the asphalt.
It is reported that the rainstorms and thunderstorms will continue until Thursday, and after a few days of calm, they will return on Monday.
