Tsalikidis Mysterious Death Becomes a Movie

main_«Wild_Duck»_ο_Γιάννης_ΣακαρίδηςThe new film of Yannis Sakaridis, “Wild Duck,” is inspired by a mysterious Greek story. The film impresses the audience thanks to its maturity, simplicity and the performances of Alexandros Logothetis, George Pyrpasopoulos, Themis Bazaka and Yannis Stankoglou.
Alexandros Logothetidis plays the part of Dimitris, a telecommunications engineer, who is forced to close his business due to loan shark debts. Dimitris with his friend Nick, who works as an engineer in a major telecommunications company, undertakes to reveal a wiretapping scandal.  Meanwhile Dimitris discovers Panagiota, a woman who is tragically involved in the story.
According to Logothetidis, the film is based on the story of Kostas Tsalikidis but without all the elements of the real story. The 39 year-old Tsalikidis who was working in Vodafone, was found dead in his apartment in March 2005. His death was linked to the scandal of interceptions against members of the then government, through illegal software installed in Vodafone. This software was removed few days before Tsalikidis’ death. Until today the authorities haven’t found the cause of his death. Some claim that he committed suicide and others that he was murdered.
The film was screened in the Thessaloniki film festival as well as in other festivals abroad, receiving a positive response.
