Nikolaos Martis, Aide to Constantine Karamanlis Passes Away

MartisOn Tuesday morning Nikolaos Martis passed away at the age of 98. He was a former minister of Northern Greece and close aide to Constantine Karamanlis.
Martis was born in 1915 in Mousttheni, a village located in Kavala in northern Greece. He had studied law in Thessaloniki and had also worked as lawyer before committing himself to politics.
During his career in politics, he served as Minister of Commerce, Minister of Industry, and Minister of Northern Greece. His funeral took place today at the First Cemetery of Athens. Antonis Samaras, the Greek prime minister, stated that “today we lose an important politician, an important Greek. Nikolaos Martis was one of the oldest and more important supporters of our Party.”
