16 Million to Healthy Nutrition Program in Greek Schools

About 50,000 school students from areas that have been hit by the crisis will join the Food Aid and Promotion of a Healthy Nutrition Program which is being mounted by the Institute of Preventive Medicine Environmental and Occupational Health, with a donation of 16 million euros by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
The goal of the program offers the opportunity for all the students of the schools involved, to have a free and healthy meal on a daily basis.
In addition, this program is not only being introduced in schools, but  also to the students families, helping to create new eating patterns and habits that promote a healthy way of living.
With the help of specially designed material, and the organization of informative events and activities, the program enhances healthy eating habits promoting health to both students and their families; to a greater extent, the program ensures that the benefits of the program will have a positive impact on modern citizens and residents of the country as well as the next generation.
During the press conference, the presentation focused on the important qualitative characteristics related to reducing the social stigma of students who find themselves in an unfavorable economic situation. It touched on boosting the sense of cooperation within the school environment, thus encouraging solidarity and cooperation among students; all elements that are particularly important during this crucial period.
