Fines for Undeclared Work

vroutsis-fines-illegal-workThe Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Ioannis Vroutsis announced that from the middle of September until the end of October they imposed fines of almost 6 million Euros for undeclared work.
Specifically, from the 15th of September to the 31st of October 2013, they checked a total of 3,931 enterprises. During the checks, 371 enterprises were found to illegally employ people (9.44%).
From 18,974 employees, 583 (3.07%) of them worked without insurance. The imposed fines for undeclared work were 5,967,319 euros.
Furthermore, according to the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, the Information Center “Ergani” showed an increase on employments — 63,212 people were recruited — not only for 2013, but compared to the last 10 years, reflecting the high compliance of the employers.
At the same time, we saw an increase on the revenues of the Social Insurance Institute (IKA) for September 2013, after four consecutive years of decline in revenues.
