This morning in Lesvos, more than 100 tons of high quality treated wood have washed ashore in the eastern part of the island. The residents rushed to the point with their cars in order to take advantage of the situation and collect the wood.
The port authorities estimate that the wood must have been the commodity of a cargo ship that shifted, and that the crew cut the cords with which the bundles were tied in order to avoid an accident.
According to the authorities, there is no possibility that a boat had sunk since there was no such report.
The port authorities of Lesvos are conducting an investigation on the incident, but until now, no official statement has been released.
