85% of Greek Businesses are "Unethical"

companyResearch conducted by the non-profit organization Future Leaders, shows that young people in Greece, aged 18 to 27 years old, believe that more than 8 out of 10 Greek companies do not apply rules of business ethics, with the biggest problem being more prominent in the field of industrial relations.
According to the research, 85% of the respondents reported that most Greek businesses do not implement practices of business ethics, while only 10% answered positively.
Most of the problems are being identified in the area of labor relations. The participants complained that the agreed timetable isn’t respected or that their employers don’t pay them. They claim that recruitment procedures are often based on discrimination as to the family obligations, age limits and gender. Furthermore 18% of Greek companies are not ethical towards consumers, suppliers and the state (deceptive marketing, personal data misuse, lack of good service, unfair competition, corruption), 15% are not ethical towards the environment  and 3% towards society (volunteering as unpaid work, not strengthening of the local economy, general indifference, etc).
In terms of the attitude that young people have towards these practices, 33% answered that they try to inform their immediate environment, 24% appear unwilling to offer their services, 23%  sabotage their services and a 11% proceed with a complaint.
Finally 22% believe that the lack of business ethics is related to the competition, 22% say that it has to do with the economic crisis, while 10% think that the responsibility lies upon the administration of the companies.
