Athens University Greek Law Students to Lose Semester

semestercancellation
After several months of consecutive striking, a majority of officials at the Universtiy of Athens’s law school have finally agreed upon a decision that will result on the loss of the academic semester.
Newspaper “TA NEA,” reported that the officials of the law school of Athens University have decided that the only way for the school to maintain its prestigious profile, is by cancelling winter’s academic semester.
Officials stated that “with the time left until February we cannot cover a whole semester. This unfortunately means the students in Law School at the University of Athens will lose their semester, as it was decided by the Institution’s professors and administration.”
The decision will be announced during the day. However, the law dictates that in order for this decision to be legitimate, it must be first confirmed by the University’s Senate, the members of which have already given a notice of their resignation.
The school’s administration is determined to stand by its decision, even if the Senate does not approve that the semester should not be considered lost.
We must underline that this is an unprecedented decision among the educational community.
The law school authorities have also decided that in order for the international image of the University not to be ruined abroad, the Erasmus programs must carry on without any interruptions. Last but not least, it was mentioned that the semester will be considered valid and grades will be given only to the Erasmus students.
