The volunteers of the Santa Run describe it vividly: “On December the 24th, at the House of Santa Run, our volunteers worked tirelessly. From 9am until late at night, hundreds of Santa Clauses passed by to pick up their costumes. The demand for Santa Clause costumes was really high. More than 200 hundred costumes were given within three and a half hours and more than 800 until late at night. In addition, new groups were formed and the oldest ones were joined by new persons who wanted to participate in the event that will take place on the Greek island, Crete.”
The event’s participants say “See you on Friday” to everyone. These words are spread around and work both as a wish and as an invitation for the locals. All Cretans look forward to this event.
The money that will be gathered from the most cheerful charity event will be given to four organizations that are helping children with health problems. The four organizations are ELEPAP, KIFAAMEA, KIFAP MEGALOXARI and ORIZONTAS.
There are still roughly 500 costumes left which are available for people to purchase in order for this year’s goal to be achieved. It seems that the spirit of the Santa Run is alive and getting stronger every year. Every year the event surpasses goals and it turns out that the costumes are never enough!
