Long Lines For Final Installments and Road Tax

tax office-Thousands of Greek citizens gathered early on Monday morning at the tax departments and banks throughout the country in order to give back car and motorcycle license plates and take care of pending tax obligations before the end of the year.
The taxpayers in Greece who formed long lines outside the tax offices have Monday and Tuesday to pay their road tax for 2014, the last installment of income tax, the installments of property tax for 2011, 2012 and 2013. It is their last chance to return their license plates if they don’t intend to use their vehicles next year and don’t want to pay road tax for them.
It is estimated that until Monday, about 2.2 million vehicle owners hadn’t yet paid their road tax for 2014.
As reported, Haris Theocaris, the General Secretary for Revenues, said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, any decision concerning the extension of the deadlines would  be taken by the Ministry of Finance. However, tax offices in Greece will remain closed on January 2 and 3.
