The Greek Food Industry Association (SEVT) publishes the competition Ecotrophelia 2014 for ecological and innovative nutrition products. The competition, which is held as part of the action of the Greek technological platform “Food for Life” and the European project “Capinfood” will give participating students the possibility to create new products and learn through the process.
As part of the competition, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate students from Greek higher education institutions or research facilities all over Greece are asked to come up with new innovative nutrition products, either foods or beverages, which abide by the elements of eco-innovation. The students should create a unique product ready for market presentation and tasting that has not yet been presented in the market.
The first phase of the competition will give students from every participating country, the possibility to compete with each other in small or large groups of up to 10 people, and prevail over the other groups. It is noted that students are allowed to cooperate with food and beverages companies. The winners in first phase will have the opportunity to showcase their products at the SIAL World Food Exhibition in Paris. The winners that place in the top three will also receive a money grant. The second phase of the competition will be held during the Exhibition between all winning countries on a European level.
