A Greek Nightbus Different from Others

nightbusLive music, good mood and a …night bus, that’s what it takes to make a successful party. The group Atenistas decided to highlight the problem of so few night bus routes in Athens, with a secret after midnight party on bus line 040.
Although Athens is a city of 3,5 million people it only has five bus lines which operate after midnight. In contrast, other European and Balkan cities with comparable populations have an average of 20 night bus routes. Atenistas, armed with enthusiasm and smiles chose this impressive and original way to inform fellow passengers of the problem.
Four years ago in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, the group Sfina carried out a similar action, transforming a night bus into a nightclub.
Atenistas is a group of Athenians, who based on their love for their city and respect for their fellow citizens and the environment, organize initiatives which aim to improve Athens. Atenistas is an independent group which is not affiliated to any political party. Their motto is action, positive energy and creativity. They have organised several cultural events, activities for the support of underprivileged social groups, along with guided tours etc.
