Venizelos: 'Neo-Nazis will be marginalized by Greek society'

venizelosGreece’s Deputy Prime Minister, Evangelos Venizelos during his speech for the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, expressed his belief that “the neo-Nazi elements, which attack Democracy and violate the law will be marginalized by Greek society.”
Venizelos pointed out that  the Greeks today, honor the memory of the thousands of Greek Jews who were victims of Nazi brutality.  He also noted that the Greek government describes the denial of the Holocaust as repugnant and condemns anti-Semitism. He emphasized on the necessity of implementation of the existing anti-racist legislation.
The Greek State, with systematic actions, is assisting the international fight against anti-Semitism. Greece hasn’t forgotten the millions of innocent victims of the Holocaust,” he said.
The Greek Minister of Public Order, Nikos Dendias, layed a wreath at the monument of the Holocaust of Greek Jews in Thisio Athens, Greece. In the afternoon he will attend a special event organized by the Jewish Community of Athens in Pallas Theater.
In 2013, Ilias Kasidiaris, member of the neo-nazi organization Golden Dawn, had reported that he is a Holocaust denier, causing intense reactions from the Greek government. Kasidiaris has made many similar statements in the past. “History has not yet given its final verdict on Hitler,” he said during a televised interview.
