Mykonos Considered a Gay-Friendly Tourist Destination

mykono LGBT tourismOne of the major trends recorded in recent years at the International Tourism Fair of Berlin (ITB) is the rapid development of “gay tourism.”
According to Deutsche Welle, gay or LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender) tourism, as it is called on the international market, is exclusively for homosexual individuals, organizing trips to destinations which are friendly towards “diversity”.
In Greece, the island of Mykonos is considered to be a particularly gay-friendly destination; Russell Lord of Kenes-Tours observes, “When two men or two women go to a hotel and ask for a double bed, the reception should be responsive to their request, and not give a room with two beds.”
The destinations that are considered to be gay-friendly are the U.S., the Greek islands, Australia and Spain – where the annual ILGTA conference will be held this year.
