Considerable Decline in Greek Construction Industry

Construction SiteThe Greek construction industry has shown a considerable decline since 2012, according to data provided by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
In December 2013, private construction activity in Greece amounted to 1,250 construction permits, totaling an area of 203,300 square meters and a volume of 797,800 cubic meters. Compared to December 2012, construction permits decreased by 29.6%, total area by 44.4% and total volume has decreased by 43.9%.
From January to December 2013, private construction activity fell by 27.7% in the number of construction permits, by 28.3% in total area and by 25.6% in total volume, in comparison with the same period the previous year.
