Tragedy off Greek Island of Mytilene

Immigran_MitiliniSeven immigrants were recovered dead from the sea north of Mytilene, Greece, when their boat capsized while they were on board.
It all started on Monday night when two immigrants who were rescued by a ship stated that they were on a boat which capsized with fifteen more people on it. The Greek Coast Guard immediately sounded the alarm and went on an overnight search and rescue mission in order to locate them.
Three Coast Guard vessels along with a Super Puma helicopter and a fishing boat rushed to the area. Eight people have been rescued until now while seven were found drowned.|
“Eight migrants were rescued and taken to hospital. They are in good condition. The search continues with two still missing,” an official stated. “Among those who drowned were a young boy and a girl.”
The migrants were thought to be Syrian but authorities could not yet confirm their nationality, the official said.
