6 out of 10 Greeks Seeking Partner on Internet

Couple in bedA recent survey by the Society for the Study of Human Sexuality revealed six out of 10 Greeks to be using dating sites to find a partner. Nearly half (43%) of respondents said they had met someone through the internet, although the majority of those admit that it didn’t lead to a serious relationship.
Registration in a dating site is a simple enough process. It is little more than a database where candidates enter personal information such as age, range, gender – perhaps even photographs – and describe their interests, to greater or lesser degrees. The system then matches these entries against the database to find a suitable partner.
Many websites offer such services for free, but others ask for a fee. In such cases, users should beware of fraudsters operating such sites or lurking among the profiles they encounter there, as many people provide false personal data. Look out for warning signs, such as flawless profile pictures, dreamy professions or phrases such as “the only thing that matters in life is love”. If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.
However, there are many people who found love via such sites. According to the survey, in Greece, 8% of internet relationships end up in marriage.
