196_gymnastirio-02According to an opinion poll carried out by Eurobarometer, Greeks are not huge fans of exercise. As Eurobarometer data findings showed, Greece is among the top European Countries of which the citizens don’t like physical practice and exercise.
In particular, almost 6 out of 10 Greeks or the 59 percent of Greek people never or rarely exercise. This percentage is significantly higher than the average percentage of all the European countries where 42 percent of the polled stated that they never or rarely exercise.  Only 7 percent of the Greek citizens exercise regularly or five times a week, while 24 percent (33 percent in the EU) exercise 1-4 times per week. In addition, 10 percent of the Greeks exercises 1-3 times per week.
The Europeans that keep their bodies in good shape according to the poll are those who live in northern Europe. For example, 70 percent of the Swedish people said that they exercise regularly. The second fittest among Europe are the citizens of Denmark.
On the other hand the Europeans who exercise least regularly are situated in South and East Europe.  In particular, Bulgarians are leading the race of those who do not exercise often with a percentage of 78 percent and are followed by the Maltese people (75 percent). The Eurobarometer poll was conducted among 28 member-states from November 23 until December 2, 2013, using a sample of 28,000 people from different social and population groups.
