German Newspaper Doubts Greek Coalition Will Last

Greek ParliamentGerman newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung has published an article expressing concern over the Greek coalition government, as the Eurogroup conference in Athens, Greece got underway Tuesday. The article expressed fears that the coalition won’t survive until 2016.
According to the article, the eurozone finance ministers will propose the release of the next tranche of the aid package of 8.3 billion euros. Greece will receive 6.3 billion euros in April, one billion in June and one in July, after the Greek government approved on Sunday the multi-bill that introduces new reforms.
The newspaper noted a shortage of support from the government for Sunday’s multi-bill, members of the government disagreed with the reforms. Former prime minister George Papandreou voted against the article to facilitate banks recapitalization, while Nikitas Kaklamanis, former MP of Nea Dimokratia was expelled from the party after voting against a critical article.
Kaklamanis said after his expulsion that he won’t succumb to political blackmail or contribute to the destruction of social groups.
